Beach Party

The setting of the city with the beautiful beaches, Sugar Loaf and Christ the Redeemer make for a fabulous city to live in and I for one could happily do just that!!!

Much of Kirra beach could be covered in turf and then turned into green foreshore park (like much of Coolangatta has been). This is all part of a radical plan to restore the world-famous surf spot to its former glory. “It would also mean the sand (close to the water’s edge) will erode naturally and if the parkland was lined up with the groynes we could see Kirra Point come back to a world-class surf spot.”

Everything you need to go surfing is provided including equipment and even sunscreen! All you need to do is turn up with your swimsuit and towel and a keen attitude.

I liked a lot London but I have to recognise that the traffic chaos, permanent rain and fast food made me appreciate (even more) the city where I luckily live. I don’t change for anything in the world the sensation of the sun sunbathing my face when I was going out the plane… Here I put a proof of my English odyssey.

On a recent getaway to Copenhagen, blackcat and I were out strolling, taking in the city (looking for a restaurant we’d eaten at before and enjoyed, actually), and passed by a used record shop. We were a few steps past it when something I had seen in the shop window registered. “Was that what I think it was?”, I said out load and turned back. Sure enough, it was a copy of “Surf’s Up” from the Beach Boys. That was once a favorite record of mine and I hadn’t heard it in years. Since at least as far back as Oct. 17, 1989 at 5:04pm. That was when my HiFi system was trashed by an earthquake. (We used to live in California, you see.) I didn’t replace the turntable and sold all my records.

The beaches are full of water sports including diving, windsurfing, sailing and parasailing. The Aguamar water park with lots of slides and pools to play in is also worth visiting.

Aiguadolc beach was treated to a hot Surfing display late yesterday evening when some Australian boys took on the waves of Sitges. The weather was a beautiful 23 degrees yesterday, but the water looked quite cold.

I am sitting in lovely Daytona Beach, FL, and the date is October 28th, 2006. My wife and I are at a friend’s house, and we will all be leaving soon to go spend the evening with some of our other friends at a favorite local bar/restaurant called The Ocean Deck - so named because you can literally walk in off of the beach and get a drink or some great food.

Its that time of year when leaves begin to fall, the rain begins to pour and third year medics finish off their second SSM.. the perfect combination of reasons to hire a big canoe and go wandering around Loch Lomond in it!
