The End Of Nude Sunbathing?

beach nude sunbathing sign Some changes afoot at the nude beaches in Gran Canaria.

However, it also says something else - that naturism is confined to the designated area on the beach, which does not include the dunes - and implies that sunbathing isn’t permitted. Additionally, people are encouraged to report what the version español euphemistically describes as “irregularidades” if they see anything untoward whilst walking through the nature reserve. Guided tours through the dunes are being introduced.

Abkhazia: Minefields And Golden Beaches

beach abjkazia An adventurous trip to Abkhazia includes some good sunbathing.

Today, Novy Aphon is the “must see” of the Abkhaz Orthodox Church, as well as a major tourist spot alongside the Anacopia gorge nearby. The numerous Russian tourists come on a day trip from neighbouring Gagra, and both sites get particularly busy in those grey days when sunbathing is not an option. Small wonder, as Gagra doesn’t offer much apart from its long beach, which is, on the other hand, what the average tourist from central Russia has been longing for throughout the year. Still, the curious traveller heading for the hilly streets up the Caucasus slopes is likely to hear a dozen languages: from Armenian or Pontic Greek to the north Caucasian family; Adygean, Circassian, Chechen, Kabardin…and Abkhaz, of course; “a language spoken in guttural voices, somewhat reminiscent of an eagle’s cry” according to Paustovsky’s perception.

Dubbed the “soul of Malaysia’s east coast”, Pantai Dasar Sabak is a rustic fishing village where the Japanese Army landed before they make their way south to Singapore and occupied Malaya in December 1941. It is suitable for coming, sunbathing, as well as catching the sights and sounds of fishing village.

Valencia On Air

beach valencia sunbathing London is great, but sunbathing in Valencia is better.

I liked a lot London but I have to recognise that the traffic chaos, permanent rain and fast food made me appreciate (even more) the city where I luckily live. I don’t change for anything in the world the sensation of the sun sunbathing my face when I was going out the plane… Here I put a proof of my English odyssey.

Holiday Retrospective

beach sunbathing umbrella When you need a vacation from your vacation.

Not been the type of people the are into the pointless pursuit of sunbathing we headed to Whitby for 5 days. TBH not really much I can say about it, well actually the idea was for me to get away from working all the time and spend some time with the missus, well we turned up at the hotel on Sunday morning to be greeted by one of the owners looking somewhat flustered, she explained to us that she was having some computer trouble so they were running a little late. andrea looks at me and before I know what’s happening I’ve been pimped out

Black Sand Beaches of Hawaii

beach portuguese man of war If you're on Hawaii's black sand beaches, keep your eye out for Portugese Man of War body parts while you're sunbathing.

Visitors beware - If you are walking barefoot on the beach in Waianapanapa State Park keep your eyes peeled for Portuguese Man-of-War bladders. These transparent blue tinged bubbles with long trailing tails washed up onto the beaches by a south-easterly wind, give a painful sting. A further warning – Nude sunbathing is not only frowned upon on the islands, but it is illegal.

Tiger Boys And Sark Girls

beach shipwrecked tiger island How do you make a reality show work when all the players are sunbathing?

At the show opening, the class differences between the tribes are emphasized. The inhabitants of Tiger Island are working class, haven’t been to university and have left behind “trade” labor jobs like plumbing and construction. On Shark Island, the tribe members are all university educated. When they first arrive at their island, Tiger quickly gets to work at putting together shelter while the Shark tribe discusses construction of their shelter, trying to agree on how they’ll divide the tasks before they begin work. They never get far in the project, as they quickly get into a routine of giving up when it gets too hot and sunbathing for the rest of the day. At this point, it could feel like Survivor but the first new arrival finds the good things about the Sharks’ lifestyle (they don’t really have to worry about food or grooming, it seems, since we see them with tinned foods and disposable razors).

It's 26°C out here in Aberdeenshire, 25°C in Manchester, 22°C in Aberdeen and 26°C in London which says to me that apart from it being perfect BBQ weather, sunbathing weather or generally 'do stuff outdoors weather' it's also perfect wax the car weather this evening (hot paintwork isn't the best when applying decent wax).

Lots of people sunbathing here, it seems on any available surface. Thus, lots of tans. Lots of too much tans as well. In general though the people here are quite lovely. Fashion is so colourful, lots of bright colours especially pink and reds. Lots of capri pants. Beautiful tops. Álso quite a lot of the fashion I see people wearing seems quite effortless.

beach billboard sunblock Sunblock, literally and metaphorically, for sunbathers.

An amazing example of innovative communication design, this billboard by New Zealand’s Clemenger BBDO won a Bronze Lion at this year’s Cannes. When there is no sunlight the billboard appears to be blank, but in the sunshine a sunbathing woman appears.

Yes, my friends, it’s true. I am currently on my spring break. The time of year when thoughts turn to sunbathing and feasts of succulent pig-flesh. 11 days of sheer, unadulterated gluttony and sloth. Gay Travel In Jamaica

travel jamaica gay protest The murder and mutilation of Jamaican gay activist Brian Williamson still invokes warnings for gays considering travel to Jamaica.

So why is it when I googled “gay travel” and "Jamaica" that my computer didnt' blow up? I searched through several travel sites with various affiliations (some queer friendly, some more generic with gay travel sections). They all offered warnings about the intensity of Jamaican’s homophobia ("hysterical reactions"). And after warning you, most sites suggest that you can still travel there as long as you keep your sexuality to yourself. Hm. Come to Jamaica and stay in the closet? One site even said that you should be prepared to receive a strange glance from locals if you out yourself. Not a single site honestly explains that if you are SUSPECTED of being gay, you may be beaten, raped, jailed, and/or KILLED. Hysterical is a euphemism for murderous.

Bloke Finds Self On Google Earth

beach google earth It's not clear to me whether you're more likely to find your picture on google earth if you sunbathe a lot or you drink a lot.

We were both working full time, but as it was summer we had hours of sunlight after work, so we wired up a stereo to the garden, and sat around, shirts off, sunbathing. The good life. For detail, we usually listened to Lemon Jelly, and drank either Gin and Tonic, or beer (usually Grolsch, but not always - the gin was always Plymouth standard strength, not the Naval strength stuff)

El Cotillo is also home to the best beach bar on the island, Bar Torino Its perfect setting lets you to start the day with breakfast rolls, dive back into your lobster pot, surfacing again later to stroll to the bar to order your personally prepared paella (at a time to suit you). The Great Barrier Grief

beach sunbathing great barrier reef Some hostel grief on a trip to the great barrier reef.

Got to Mackay and got ourselves onto the transfer coach to Airlie Beach. Got here at 6.30pm and found the backpackers hostel. Oh My God - what a shock for me. I have never stayed in a hostel before and we had booked a shared dorm - well it was me, Jon and 2 other guys from Scotland and Holland. Well I tried to make conversation feeling possibly the most uncomfortable I have ever felt - but to no avail - one word answers - ignorant men!! So I had a few tears outside with Jon and then we went into the main strip to get something to eat - I had a few drinks and phoned my turtle and my mum and cried and felt better.

Young Sunbathing

beach baby sunbathing Lovely story about a newborn.

For us this week was very much a mixed bag, as we also welcomed Alexandra Ann into the world. She came in rather unexpectedly, weighing in at six pounds, eight ounces, and dealing with some jaundice. As such, she spent her first few days starting off with blood being taken from her heel, and we were advised to start her sunbathing early. It was in so doing that I took this picture, not intending the contrasting darkness but struck by it nonetheless. There is something profoundly hopeful about a newborn, and another passage came to mind:

Cutting The Grass

beach sunbathing in the garden Pear missiles whilst sunbathing?!?!

What a sodding riddiculas past time!Honestly, itl only grow back and have to be done again in 3 days time. Up and down the garden like a yoyo with a spinning blade disguised as a child's toy. Felt like a right pillock. At one end of our garden is a diseased and cantacourous old pear tree that produces concrete missile 'pears' which it drops intermittently when your sunbathing. At the other there is the washing line - which unleashing clothes to strangle and blind you, all in all makes the garden a bit of a health hazard. And someone said gardening was suposed to be a relaxing hobby!

Wine Tasting In Southern California

beach on the winetasting bus Wine tasting in Northern California was never as fun as this.

Colette soon returned to round up her tipsy wards for the next destination. At this point things were getting a little rough around the edges. People started admitting their smoking-when-drunk habit and cigarettes got passed around. I was informed by two very proper group members that they were actually “friends with benefits”. The topic of topless sunbathing came up. One of our male group members did an excellent pole dance for us on the bus. And finally, someone flashed her thong. Yeahhhhhhhh…….! There’s really nothing quite like observing a nice, respectable group of professionals disintegrate into a raucous group of partyers.

Camping On Lake Huron

beach lake huron sunset Great time on Lake Huron with the families.

The girls and I had a great time camping on Lake Huron at Hoeft State Park. All five families camped this year (10 adults, 12 kids) which made for a lot of fun and fellowship. I love sitting around a campfire with 20 people. It reminds me of family camp. The weather was at times hot for swimming and sunbathing and cool for hiking, biking and campfires. Of course, Lake Huron was just amazing and inspiring to watch, listen and enjoy.

Stoned On The Beach

beach chesil beach stones Cute story from a British travelogue.

Then we drove down to Chesil beach. The beach was full of VERY red Brits sunbathing and loads of fishermen casting from shore. This beach doesn't have sand, it has millions of tiny, smooth, gorgeous little stones which were actually really comfy to lay on. They were so pretty that we decided as a surprise for the parents that we'd pick out the prettiest we could find, then we'd put them in glass, water-filled bowls so they could float candles in them. We spent an HOUR laying on a blanket picking out the perfect stones, comparing stones, picking out our favorites of the other person's pile. It was so fun, and a great idea for a souvenir! Until we saw the threatening sign about stealing stones from the beach. We put them back. We both have super guilty consciences.

Read the whole thing.

Cinque Terre

beach cinque terre italy A beautiful place in Italy.

Anyway, the 4 of us hired a boat & headed north & south along the Cinque Terre (The Five Terraces). It gave us a good vista of the villages perched on cliff edges, the terraced gardens, the walkway that winds through, connecting the villages – all very pretty. Got to the northern-most bay of our distance allowance, anchored up & speculated on why the nearby Lido had people crowded onto it with their deckchairs, umbrellas, etc. & here we were with a deserted lido of our own, only one person sunbathing on some nearby rocks. While Jenn & I translated the sign that warned of trespassing from the sea onto the nearby restaurant land, & wondering if that big pipe over there meant we were in an effluent discharging area, the boys had stripped naked & were in the water. Apparently it was refreshing & felt great, & it certainly looked clear & clean, & we are on the ‘clean’ side of the Italian peninsula, so it was probably our good fortune that yet again we found ourselves in a lovely part of the country & didn’t have to share it with lots of people.

A Fantasatic Weekend

beach sunbathing Nothing like sunbathing to make the world better.

Well its all worth it today. I bet loads of people are writing fantastic blogs today. The weekend weather has been brilliant and I have been sunbathing outside all the time. I have got a little tan but i bet everyone at work says I am still white. Me and my husband cooked dinner for my brother and dad. We ate it in the Garden. Friday seems a long time ago and not so bad. Its wierd, work overcome you sometimes and you can't get it out of your mind. It seems so important but when you are not there for a while you can put it into perspective. I dont mind going back when I have had a good time!!

Sunscreen My Ass

beach sunbathing sunburn The story of the sunscreen that didn't work.

I used the SPF 15 product — I typically never use higher than SPF 8 — and the stuff was like Elmer’s Glue. It pretty much refused to absorb into my skin, but instead simply created a white coating that never went away. I was a walking sugar-frosted flake… Then when I finally got to the actual business of sunbathing, rather than living up to its’ SPF 15 label, it appears to have acted as as catalyst instead. Does “lobster” summon a sufficient mental image?

beach sunbathing on boat Boating trips are so full of disappointments.

As if to make a liar out of me, a power boat blasts by us at twenty knots. Sitting in the back is a twenty-year-old brunette wearing only a beach towel. I grab the binoculars and keep a weather eye on her, waiting for her to drop the towel and resume naked sunbathing as soon as they’re past us, but she doesn’t. Central Park

beach central park sunbathing In the summer, Central Park is the beach in Manhattan.

It is the quintessential urban park that almost every city should be envious of. Central Park is literally the cynosure of all New Yorkers and almost every tourist likes to take a brief walk through its green environs. I had visited New York on previous two occasions and both times, the time I spend in Central Park hardly revealed the breathing space that keeps New York alive. The first time, I took a brisk walk alongside the Great Lawn although the weekend sunbathing people did slow down my pace a wee bit. The second time I was with my parents and like every person past their prime walking years, they found the vastly spread out green a bit of a drag. However this time, I was with two people very much in their youth and an equal eagerness to see the Park. Of course, it wasn’t a one-day job so we just walked across (again!) to the East side alongside the reservoir. At that time, I was meeting up with my aunt, uncle, and cousin busy in discussing urban space facets of the park rather than simply taking in the view. But as my oft-practiced tolerance for less-visiting relatives is inevitable, I let it be.

Isn't "cynosure" such a grand word?

Sunbathing At Church

beach sunbathing st pauls cathedral Shocking!

Onward to: St. Paul’s Cathedral. I strolled around the outside and was shocked (shocked!) to see people sunbathing on the grounds. I’m certainly not a religious sort, but that seemed a little disrespectful to me. Inside, there was a service going on — it’s easy to forget that these classic churches which are such popular tourist stops are also functioning Anglican churches. I was a little surprised to find a service happening at 3:30, but there we were. Not much opportunity for touristing around, so I just listened to the sermon. It was a woman vicar (at St. Paul’s — I was stunned) and the lesson was quite reasonable: you don’t have time for God when you’re rushing from place to place so just Slow Down. I went downstairs and had a quick afternoon nosh (tea, I suppose) at the Crypt Cafe. Why, oh why didn’t they have t-shirts? I would have bought one in a heartbeat.

There’s even a paper glider that you can release when you're up in the big wide blue. Potential stalkers...

Honeymoon In Lesvos

beach lesvos greece I like the part about honeymoon in Lesvos:

Just a quick update. We are packed and ready to leave for southern Turkey. We will be travelling through the areas around Ephesus looking at ancient Greek ruins. I am very excited about it. Things have been happening so fast and we haven't even been here for a week yet. Our honeymoon on Lesvos will give us a chance to slow down and reflect. We are looking forward to some beach days. The weather is looking good for our trip, so there should be plenty of swimming and sunbathing. I didn't know this would be possible, but I am falling more in...

Solve World Hunger: Go Sunbathing

beaches sunbathing fantasy Sounds like maybe drugs were involved in this concept.

4. If I could be a scientist...I'd find a way to incoporate chloroplasts into our skin so we could photosynthesize while sunbathing and thus make our own food and thus end world hunger.

Sun Or Bust

beaches sunbathing thong Or maybe that should be Sun And Bust.

Well I will be gone, off to Puerto Rico for the next week. You don’t have to feel too bad for me as I will try to have as much fun as I can there on the nice beaches. I have one main mission while there. Try to get some sun on some very vitamin D deficient patches of skin. In fact I have bought a thong just for that very purpose. So it will remain to be seen what will happen with that plan. I am torn right now between getting a tan on the places that the sun doesn’t usually shine which would be nice, and what would not be so nice, and...

Castles Made Of Sand

beaches sunbathing brad pitt angelina jolie Famous sunbathers in a distant land.

IT looks like the rumored romance between Brad Pitt and his sexy “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” co-star, Angelina Jolie, is for real. Despite denying any love connection was made on the set of the movie — or that any romantic feelings between the two caused the split between Pitt and wife Jennifer Aniston — Pitt has joined Jolie and son Maddox on vacation in Africa. Photos have appeared in the London Sun of the couple walking on a romantic beach “in an African country,” possibly Tanzania, with Maddox trailing along. One picture...

As best as I can tell the photos were taken at least 2 years ago in the fall. I like this photo because you can see people sunbathing on the Diag.

Beautiful Day

beach bellingham What a lovely day!

I’ve been telling Jesse for a week or two now that I want to go to the Tulip Festival that goes on just a little south of here, and yesterday was the first day our schedules coincided. We invited my brother and his girlfriend Brittany along, and they wanted to come as well, so we packed into Jesse’s car and made a day of it. The tulips were fabulous - all the different colors lined up in the fields were breathtaking, and spending time together was hilarious. Andrew and Jesse both have a sort of dry, sarcastic wit, and Brittany’s just sweet and fun. We ended up spending time at the tulips and then headed back up toward Bellingham to scout out a somewhat uninhabited beach a friend told Jesse and I about. After sunbathing for a while (all four of us crammed on a little blanket in the sand got some funny looks from the few passersby we encountered), we went back to my place for pizza and the four of us split up for an hour or so before meeting back at a movie theater to see “The Interpreter.”

Remote Control Spy Car?

beaches sunbathing How can you tell whether that little remote control car has a camera? Look where it stops on the beach.

Anyway, the product image itself shows a girl in a bikini on the little screen. Sunbathing. With her top down. So they're not exactly relying on your imagination to figure out the potentialities.

Beach Reading

beaches durabook Books that go in the water. What a clever idea for the beach.

The Beach Book is a collection of short stories from Melcher Media. But this is no ordinary beach read - it's waterproof, impervious to UV rays, greaseproof and stain-resistant. It's the latest in a series dubbed DuraBooks which use plastic resins rather than wood pulp or cotton fibers to make pages. The book is sewn together in a patented process that involves special thread and glue.

In addition to beachcombers, the company sees a market for bathtub readers, like myself, who they claim "often won't take a good book in with them for fear of destroying it." (I've never suffered from this particular form of anxiety however.)

Romania Bans 60+ Women From Going Topless

beach topless ban Is anyone making you look?

“It is always pleasant to see young women sunbathing topless, provided that the women are attractive. But ironically, mainly elderly ladies sunbathe topless. This looks disgusting", says officer Ionut Polesku patrolling the beach in Constanta.

Tired.. I'm Really Tired..

beach singapore sentosa tanjong At least these diners aren't tired and on an ugly beach.

Before starting off, went to Sentosa Tanjong Beach yesterday with Edwin, Daniel, his friend, Winston and Arnie. Some coincidences happened, as well a little unhappiness arose but didn’t make it a point to sound out, especially billing matters for both lunch and dinner. I’m so sick and tired of the way they split the bill, especially how ‘ahem’ (shan’t say who) handle the process. Next time, I’ll make it a point that I sign the bill, they split the cost and pay me instead. Sigh. Although on dutch basis is good,...
